Lesson 31: Playing Small Pocket Pairs GAMEMASTER'S SECRETInternet Advantage Play: BJ Tournaments with Elimination Hands: Another Update
Here are my results of playing over 500 Blackjack tournaments that feature an elimination hand and a secret bet. I'll show you the stats and talk about how the attempt to stop gambling on the Internet has affected the game.
BEATING TOUGH GAMES:The word "tough" probably means something different to all of us, so let me explain how I view it as it relates to Blackjack games. What I'm referring to are games where the rules suck or the penetration is shallow or there's a lot of scrutiny from the casino supervisory personnel (the 'pit critters' as we lovingly call them) and so forth. Let me first say that to gain even a tiny edge in a tough game, you'll likely have to count the cards, so that ability is a prerequisite for the tricks I'll describe. In other words, if you're not a counter, you won't find a lot in here to help you. A Blackjack Tournament Bet Examined:
If you've played Blackjack tournaments at all, it's very clear that the most important bet is probably the bet you make on the final hand. Sure, there may be other critical bets in the match, like when you successfully bet your entire stack and catch a Blackjack, but I think it's fair to say that no bet has been closer examined in Blackjack tournament literature than the final bet because it's the bet that usually determines who wins and who loses.
