Pick A Game! Part 4
Bonus Poker
A lot of machines which offer a bonus on four-of-a-kind have turned up over the years and not all of them are good games to play. Few offer more than a 100% return and you have to remember that most also pay only 5 for 5 on two pair. Since so much of the payoff is concentrated on the higher end of the scale, these games can suck up money like a vacuum cleaner. With all that, I must admit that I play a lot of Double Bonus, both in quarter and dollar formats and have done very well. There's nothing quite like hitting four Aces 2 or3 times in a night; normally, it's a 1 in 5000 shot. Here are some of the better Bonus poker games which are, for those of you who haven't played them, variations of Jacks or Better. But, while a basic 'Jacks' strategy will work fairly well, remember that each has its own proper playing strategy.
I've shown the payoff for 5 coins played and need to warn you that 'short-pay' versions of these games are out there. The most common is Double Bonus with a 45 for 5 Full House which yields only 99.1% for expert play.
