If we choose to celebrate the holidays in places like Las Vegas we sometimes lose track of that concept as we are awed by the opulence of the holiday decorations, the majestic hotels (and some not so majestic), the glitz and glitter of the casinos and other attractions. Sometimes we forget that ordinary people, not pixies and genies, are making all of it available for our enjoyment. Because the hotels and casinos are open twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days a year, these people will be working during the holidays, those same holidays most of us take off from work and spend with our families.

People who live in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Reno have families, pay their bills, work and eat just like those who visit these and other gambling Meccas.

For those of you who choose to celebrate the holidays at your favorite hotel/casino, take a minute to appreciate those who make it possible for you to have all those free drinks, great meals and gaming excitement. Although always good ideas, make a special effort to offer them a kind word, a smile, maybe an extra toke. This is will make their holiday a little more festive and in return they will make your holiday celebration even better.
