The GameMaster's Secrets
The Best Blackjack Trick I Know
Is this finally it? Is this the place where someone tells you how to see what the dealer's hole card is at least half the
time? Or maybe I'm going to let you in on a way to win every time you play. How about a method of betting that lets you
make a profit, even though the dealer is winning 60% of all the hands?
Well, if I knew how to do any of that, dear reader, I wouldn't be writing this, I assure you. I'd be with some 'bimbo du jour' in a
city with a lot more beaches than St. Louis, MO and I wouldn't go near a computer. And that's true for every scammer who's out
there making promises like those above. If they REALLY worked, they wouldn't be selling them, so forget the idea that making
$$$ in a casino is easy, because it isn't. But neither is it impossible.
So, what's my 'trick'? Sorry, it's not glamorous, it's not exciting, but it does work. It's called a flashcard.
Yep, the same flascard you may have used to learn arithmatic (is math stll called that?), or what you may have used to help
your child learn it. Through the use of flaschcards I can learn the basic strategy for any game (not just Blackjack - how about
video poker or Caribbean Stud or Let It Ride?) and I can learn all the variations from basic strategy that come with counting cards.
Flashcards are inexpensive, portable, and I can use them while the plane is taking off or landing.
We all have times in the day where we're waiting for someone or something and I can use my flashcards then
to either learn something new or reinforce what I already know.
If you're just getting serious about winning at Blackjack, use flashcards to learn the proper basic
strategy for your game of choice. As an example, if your game allows double after splitting pairs, you have
a lot to learn about when to split. For each possible pair, make a flashcard that looks like this:
The translation here is that the front side shows the player's hand, a pair of sevens,
and the backside has the 'rule' which covers all situations. In a multi-deck game which allows
double after splitting pairs, you split a pair of sevens when the dealer is
showing a 2,3,4,5,6, or 7. If the dealer shows an 8, 9, 10 or A, you just hit, rather than split, 7,7.
Now use your imagination and you'll see that my little 'trick' will teach you a lot about how to win in the casino.
