Hi Gamemaster.
I do Vegas 7-10 times/year and 90%of my trips are winners. I play
Keno on the Play Maker games, but when I get low on cash I always go to
the roulette
table to build it up again This works most of the time...I always bet the
zeros...they have been good payoffs for me. What do you think,,just dumb
luck? I've been doing this for many years.
I would like to know your thoughts on Keno machines...My favorite...They pay
for my gambling trips, 9 out of 10 times.
Love your articles,
John
Hello GameMaster,
I have been following your lessons & it has helped a lot; thank you!
You're welcome.
I have another question; two actually. The first is, I'm having trouble
dividing half decks into the count. Do you have any suggestions or give me
an
example please?
If you're using the High/Low count, just divide by full decks and round
down conservatively. For example, with a running count of 5 and four decks
remaining, consider that a true count of 1. I have no 'tricks' for
learning half-deck adjustments, because I've never used a count which
requires it. I think that degree of accuracy isn't needed in multi-deck
games.
The other one is that I read a book by Jerry Patterson. Have you
heard of him; if so, is he any good? He suggests that you memorize a chart &
then multiply the running count by them & that gives you the true count.
Example 5 1/2 decks left running count is 14. You multiply 0.2 (2 move the
decimal point over after you multiply) that gives you a true count of 2.8. I
can do the dividing rather easily except for when there is a 1/2 involved.
So
if you could please help me I'd rather do it your way & divide.
Jerry Patterson is the person who taught me how to count. His 'normal'
counting information is valid, but his latter systems like Target are, in
my opinion, useless. That way of multiplying to divide which he describes
is valid. But again, I recommend that you use a count where one divides by
full decks.
I have been practicing since I am off work from a back operation. I am
going to Vegas for Thanksgiving I have been practicing everyday. I live in
Florida, my parents were down & we went on a gambling boat. The first
trip I
played slots & lost so I went to the tables. I had only $10.00 left. In 45
minutes I walk away with $150.00; not bad huh? The second trip I played
with
$20.00 (both trips $5.00 minimum) I walked away 1 1/2 hours later with
$264.00, so see, your stuff does work: thanks!
You're doing very well. Congratulations.
I am building my bankroll for Vegas. I have $1,600 dollars so far. What
amount of table should I play $5,
$10, etc?
You should try to find a $5 minimum double-deck table and bet a 1-6 spread
so your top bet will be $30 at a true count of 6. If you can find a game
with 60+% penetration, you should average about $5 per hour. There's a
less than 1 in 50 chance of losing the entire $1600 in 24 hours of play
(say, 3 days at 8 hours' play per day - remember to come up for air
sometime and eat, etc.) and there's about a 50-50 chance of hitting a goal
of $500 on the trip. Your expectation is to win $120 on the trip, so don't
go for the chandeliers if you have a good streak.
Oops, 1 more question. What do you think about this count reversal
strategy? I mean it sounds weird: don't increase your bet until the count
starts to come back down.
The concept here is that the count is going up because you've hit a place
in the deck where a lot of little cards are coming out and it's tough to
win when little cards are coming out. Once the count starts going down, it
means that big cards are coming out and then the player should be getting
20s and Blackjacks, etc. That theory would be fine if the cards all ran in
streaks; they don't. The betting principles we use for counting takes all
that into consideration, so I don't buy the idea.
Also, what do you think about this card clumping thing?
There's no doubt that cards can 'clump'. The problem arises when one tries
to act on that information. If 4 high cards are dealt, there's no way one
can say that 4 more are going to appear, or that 4 small cards are going to
come out. Clumping is random (in spite of what others may say) and it's
not possible to predict random events. Card counting has the power of
pointing out favorable situations where the odds favor a higher bet and, if
we're able to play enough of these favorable situations, we can make a profit.
I trust your advice over anyone else's as I win with YOUR lessons.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. Don't hesitate to ask if I can help you
further and let us know how you make out in Sin City.
Thanks so much for your time.
Lorie

GameMaster,
My name is Lorie & wanted to tell you I have learned a lot with your
chapter's on your site. I have a question please about determining the true
count. I followed your exercise about how to determine the "true" count. I
must say I am confused because there were no examples of where the count was
less than the decks remaining. i.e. if the running count were 1 & the
number
of decks remaining were 6. That would be .16 correct? So since that is not
even close to 1 would you round it down & call it a "true " count of zero?
I love your lessons but you have not had any new ones for quite some
time.
Thank-You,
Lorie :)
Hi, Lorie.
I'm glad you've found the lessons helpful, but I do a new one each
month...are you missing them? They're all available on the Blackjack Page
which you can reach from the front page of my site.
Anyway, to answer your question; yes, if the running count was 1 and there
are 6 decks left, consider the true count as 0, but if you have a hand of
16 against a dealer's 10, you'd stand because the 'index' for that play is
0 and you're just a bit above that.
Yours for winning,
The GameMaster
